Prerequisites

ENGINEERS REGISTRATION
Engineers responsible for Installation, Inspection, Testing, Commissioning, and Maintenance of:

  • Fire Protection
  • Life Safety
  • Elevators

must be registered with UPDA and included on the Approved List of Certified Engineers for Qatar Civil Defence (QCD).
They must work under a Registered Installation & Maintenance Contractor.

Eligibility:
Engineer must pass the Competency Examination by the QCD Safety Systems Division.

Must be Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineers in Fire Protection, Life Safety, or Elevators.

Exam Policy:
Maximum of 2 chances to pass the QCD Exams.

If failed, there must be a 1-month interval before a re-take.

A 3rd attempt may be allowed only with officer’s final approval.

QCDD Exam Requirements
  • Electrical Engineers with MME UPDA License
  • The company should have at least one QCDD approved Engineer
  • Application submission and results only through the PRO of the company
  • Time available for candidate after applying for exam is 5-10 days maximum

Academic Qualification:

  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent

  • UPDA Grade A, B, or C

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years in FDAS, Emergency Lighting, and/or EPSS

  • Experience must be attested by the employer

  • Employment: Must be employed by a QCD-registered Installation & Maintenance Company

Requirements for Engineers Registration

  • Letter of Intent (LOI) to QCD Head of Safety Systems Division
  • Completed Application Form
  • UPDA Engineer Certificate with Grade A, B, or C (Trainer’s certificate not accepted)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume
  • Employment Certificate
  • Residence Permit in Qatar or QID
  • Proof of Address in Qatar (e.g., Billing)
  • QCD Company Registration

Who Should Attend?

  • Electrical Engineers with MME/UPDA License.
  • The Engineer in charge of the Supervision/Approval of Installation, Testing, Commissioning, and Maintenance of the Fire Alarm and Emergency Lighting systems shall be registered with and on the approved list of Qatar Civil Defence.
