PMI sets the PMP certification requirements for every country, so the requirements in Qatar are the same as anywhere else. What is specific to Qatar is how you document your project experience, where you complete the 35 hours of training and how you sit the exam. This guide covers the PMP certification Qatar requirements step by step, from eligibility to the exam, with a budget checklist and tips for choosing a PMP training center in Qatar.
PMP certification Qatar requirements: the four eligibility paths
You qualify through one path. Your highest education decides how many months of project leadership experience you need, and every path also needs the 35 hours of training (PMI, PMP certification).
| Your education | Experience needed |
|---|---|
| Secondary school diploma or equivalent | 60 months (5 years) leading projects |
| Associate-level degree or an advanced technical or vocational programme | 48 months (4 years) leading projects |
| Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognised institution | 36 months (3 years) leading projects |
| Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree from a programme accredited by PMI’s Global Accreditation Center (GAC) | 24 months (2 years) leading projects |
The months must not overlap and must fall within the 10 years before you apply. For the full explanation of each path, read our general guide to the PMP certification requirements.
What counts as project experience in Qatar
Your application must show that you led and directed projects in a professional setting. The work can be in any industry and does not have to carry the title of project manager. If two projects overlap, the overlapping months are counted once (PMI, PMP application experience).
Many professionals in Qatar already meet the experience part of the PMP certification Qatar requirements through work such as:
- Construction, fit-out and renovation projects, including coordination of contractors and consultants
- Facilities, maintenance and shutdown projects
- Oil, gas and utilities projects
- IT, systems implementation and process improvement projects
- Training, event and corporate programmes that you planned and delivered
- Engineering and infrastructure packages that you led for a client or employer
These do not count as qualifying experience:
- School projects and academic research for a degree
- Planning personal events or home improvement projects
- Routine, operational or administrative tasks
- Work in which you took part but did not lead or direct any part of the project
PMP certification Qatar requirements: documents to prepare
PMI can audit any application, so collect your evidence first. Keeping it in one folder also makes the online form faster to complete.
| Document or detail | Why you need it | Ready |
|---|---|---|
| Highest degree or diploma | Confirms your eligibility path | |
| List of projects with start and end dates | Shows non-overlapping months within the last 10 years | |
| Your role and what you led on each project | Shows that you led and directed the work | |
| Contact details of a manager or colleague who can verify each project | Needed if PMI audits your experience | |
| Certificate of completion for your 35 hours of training | Training is subject to audit |
The 35 hours of project management training
Training is the second part of the PMP certification Qatar requirements. Every path requires at least 35 hours of commercial project management training aligned with the PMP Examination Content Outline. An active CAPM® certification waives this requirement (PMI, 35-hour training requirement).
- Training does not expire, and you can combine hours from more than one qualifying course
- Self-paced courses must include an end-of-course assessment
- A course title that only says “35 hours” or “35 PDUs” does not qualify by itself
- Books and practice exams on their own do not count as training
- Keep your certificate of completion in case of an audit
PMI is changing the rules for live, instructor-led training. From 1 December 2026, live training counts towards the 35 hours only if it is delivered by a PMI Authorized Training Partner or an eligible accredited academic programme. Courses completed before that date remain eligible, and PMI’s own self-paced PMP Exam Prep Course qualifies. Ask any provider how its course counts towards the 35 hours before you pay.

PMP exam Qatar: format and where to sit it
Passing the exam is the final step once you meet the PMP certification Qatar requirements. The PMP exam is set by PMI and is the same worldwide. You take it either in person at a Pearson VUE test centre or online with a proctor. For the online option you need a system test, a private space and a valid photo ID, so check the PMI website for the current delivery options and test centres available to you (PMI, PMP certification).
The questions cover predictive, agile and hybrid approaches. The domain weights and formats are in the PMI, PMP Examination Content Outline. If you are still deciding whether the PMP is the right credential, read what is PMP.
PMP certification cost in Qatar: what to budget for
The total cost of meeting the PMP certification Qatar requirements depends on a few separate items. PMI changes its fees from time to time, so confirm the current amounts before you plan your budget.
- Training courseThe 35 hours of training. Fees vary by provider, format and what is included, such as mock exams and study material. Ask our course consultants for the current course fee.
- PMI exam feePaid directly to PMI when you book the exam. Members and non-members pay different fees, so check the PMI website for the current amount.
- Retake feeOnly needed if you do not pass on an attempt. Good preparation with timed mock exams helps you avoid it.
- RenewalAfter you pass, you complete 60 PDUs every 3 years and pay PMI’s renewal fee.
When you compare providers, compare what is included in the course fee as well as the price itself.
How to choose the best PMP training in Qatar
A good PMP training center in Qatar should help you meet the training requirement and prepare you to pass. Use these questions when you compare options for the best PMP training in Qatar:
- Does the course explain how it counts towards the 35 hours, and does it give you a certificate you can keep for an audit?
- Is the content built on the current Examination Content Outline, including predictive, agile and hybrid approaches?
- Does it include full-length timed mock exams and scenario-based practice?
- Are the instructors experienced project professionals?
- Are class timings practical for working professionals, with live online and in-class options?
- Can you get support with your application and questions after the course?

Project management course in Qatar: PMP or CAPM
If you are looking for a project management course in Qatar, the right credential depends on your experience. The PMP is for professionals who have already led projects. If you have less experience, the CAPM course is an entry-level option, and an active CAPM® also waives the 35 hours if you later apply for the PMP. If you are comparing the PMP with other certifications, see CFM vs PMP.

They are the same as the global PMI requirements: 60 months of project leadership experience with a secondary school diploma, 48 months with an associate-level or vocational qualification, 36 months with a bachelor’s degree or higher, or 24 months with a degree from a GAC-accredited programme. Every path also needs 35 hours of project management training or an active CAPM®.
Do I need a degree to get the PMP in Qatar?
No. With a secondary school diploma you need 60 months of experience leading projects, plus the 35 hours of training.
Where can I take the PMP exam in Qatar?

How much is the PMP certification cost in Qatar?
The cost is made up of the training course, PMI’s exam fee and, if needed, a retake fee. PMI sets its own fees, so check the PMI website for the current amount, and contact our consultants for the current course fee.
How long do I have to take the exam after my application is approved?
